It’s an ad. Companies spend billions of dollars in advertising for the sole purpose of getting consumers to buy their product. This one cleverly took advantage of the convoluted version of Christmas that has evolved – I don’t think Santa was anywhere near the manger when Jesus was born – and turned it into an opportunity to cash in. If they want to really give, there are ways they can really do so without an obese man in a red suit running around acting like a clown, playing jester to a bunch of middle to upper class Americans who really aren’t in need of a Christmas miracle.
