    Watch this two times: First watch the baby’s valiant attempts to get to her beloved friend. Then watch the dog’s expressions as the baby approaches her (him). My guess is that the dog is a female who has already had a litter. If you watch the dog’s face, it is rather unemotional, even somewhat stoic, and then proud that the baby keeps inching towards her/him. The dog then rewards the baby by gently kissing her. This is something which I believe would better translate in a female nurturing situation.
