Country Music Hall of Fame member, Glen Campbell ,who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2011, is out with the video for the final song he’ll ever record — “I’m Not Gonna Miss You.” I have to say this is so powerful to anyone that has had to deal with Alzheimer’s first hand…So sad that this disease exists and we don’t have a cure yet, don’t you think?

Our loved one is in their safe little world,,,,,this disease affects the family & friends that have to watch their loved one go to another plateau that we don’t want to accept seeing them that way! My mother developed dementia before she passed and it hurts.. Really hurts … To see another personality surround us that we never saw before in life!! Such a crippling disease that we have no control over :(:(:(

I have recently been diagnosed with alzheimers. I’ve learned a lot about this disease and none of it’s good. This song brought tears as no one wants to forget their loved ones and friends. And thinking of loved ones having to watch this ‘decay’ of a loved one, truly heartbreaking. My prayers go out to this family…

Tommi…You don’t know me but I have been caregiver to a father, a motherinlaw and a wife with this disease and my heart and prayers go out to you. As long as I breath, I will do my best to care for all of you…my only advice is to try to be grateful for what you had and have left…I will not forget you… promise…Uncle Dave.

My father was a big Glenn Campbell fan. He also had Alzheimer’s Disease. We lost the last of him in March, but had lost the rest of him over the past several years. He lived with us, so although there was more and more of him gone all the time, his roughish smile still stayed with him, and it is the last living memory I have of him.

So sad to hear this about such a Legend in his time. I loved that man’s singing since I was a young girl and even sent and had his picture come at one point in my young teenage life. Even though your mind might be fading, the memories of you will still linger on. God Bless you and your family.

My Father had dementia. Along with Alzheimer’s , it’s a devastating disease. Ive worked as a nurse caring for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia for over 20 years. Now I know truly how the families of these patients feel after my Father fell ill. It’s like a loss for you. Like a different kind of death. Your loved one looks and sounds the same but the personality is gone. I was devastated when my Dad no longer knew me. I was in mo ring long before he finally passed away.

yes so sad he has Alzheimers, i think all of us that have seen it first hand really understand how hard it is to look after some one with dementia, i cared for my wife who had severe dementia from an early age, and finally passed away at 68, but not from the dementia,,, from breast cancer, if she did not have dementia then perhaps the breast cancer could have been seen too, but who knows

beautiful, very touching song, love his music. But… if this happens to me, I’m moving to Oregon. When the quality of life is over and and the slow demise is a painful, emotional and financial burden on family, I won’t prolong the inevitable. I don’t want my loved ones losing me twice.
