Daughter Throwing A Tantrum, Dad’s Solution: Priceless :)

Her 6 year old daughter had been in her room wigging out for about an hour, and there was no talking her down. She was mad because she was hungry and wanted to eat at McDonald’s instead of waiting for mom to finish cooking.  Mom was getting fed up, so her husband decided to lighten the mood. For the record, she’s not typically a beast child – she’s actually a pretty awesome little kid who was having a rough day. 🙂

What do you guys think of dad?

@Susan Brackett: File charges on the neighbors for filing false police report, its not illegal to let a kid throw a tantrum. After a few times the cops are gonna get pissed at the neighbor and tell them to knock it off. Plus if youre not doing anything wrong why are you afraid of the cops?
@Russ: OMG , get over it! You are the type of over-reacter whos kid is so “mentslly fragile” that if anyone laughs at them they take assault rifles to school and shoot everyone AND their parents for making them into the little bitches they become!
GREAT JOB DAD, I DO THE SAME THING AND ONLY WISH I HAD THOUGHT TO RECORD IT!!!

What else CAN you do? It’s laugh of suffer headaches. xD He’s brilliant. Kids DO need to learn that they can’t have everything they want when they want it, and this is the best way to handle a tantrum like that. Kudos!

One time my 3 year old daughter had a tantrum lying her belly pounding the living room floor. I mimicked her and did the same thing. She sat up stared at me and never did it again.

Hilarious! Now I just have to go to bed with this tantrum in mind – hoping that it won’t show up in my dream with MY dad!

A treat for sore eyes! This dad had the perfect solution! Not sure when he perfected it, but he sure has it down pat. So creative and something more dads could do rather than smack the kid. I really like this dad!!

He had it down so perfectly, all I can think is that she’s done this before – more than once. Gotta just let her cry and do what you can to get yourself and the family through it.

Um, this is NOT a ‘solution’. The family is laughing at dad while the daughter screams ‘stop laughing at me’. There are plenty of other ways to teach your children before resorting to mocking and humiliation. This dad is not a shining example…

He IS a shining example. He wasn’t doing that for her benefit, it was for the rest of the family who had to suffer through that tantrum. She had been at it for an hour. How much of that do you expect people to take? You don’t think they tried to talk her down? Have you tried talking down a child who is dead set on getting their way? I have and it doesn’t work. You just have to let them go sometimes and do what you can to preserve your sanity till they get over it.

Kids are more resilient than some people give them credit for, she’ll get over it. I’ve thrown tantrums and my family mocked me to my face for doing it. You’d better believe I stopped that crap. As I got older I realized I was being ridiculous even though it was no fun at the time. I survived that and dozens of skinned knees and elbows and even a chipped tooth from playing too hard.

What dad was doing? It was self defense.
