Dave and Erin were walking around Pennsylvania’s Fawn Lake when this very friendly guy approached Dave and demanded to be petted… Who could say no? I would be all over him if it happened to me!

Adorable, but I think I’d be too busy thinking of ticks, haha.

That was adorable and I probably would have petted him too. I live in West Milford NJ where it is mountaneous and woodsy terrain. Wildlife abounds here- huge variety of critters live up here, deer and bear among them. Perhaps you saw us on the news last week – we had the misfortune of having a college student out for a hike with his buddies get mauled by a 300 lb black bear. First time that’s happened in NJ in over 150 years. We still don’t fully understand what caused this tragedy yet. As much as I love animals and want to pet and feed the ones that cross my path, I’ve learned over the years it is best to keep your distance and not interfere. If animals are afraid of humans, they tend to stay away from us. Ironically fear of humans is the animals best line of defense. This deer has apparently been tamed in some manner prior to this couples experience with him. While it is adorable and does give me the warm fuzziness- flash forward a few months to hunting season. This deer will no longer run off and hide from humans he hears approaching- he is going to trot right up to the hunters expecting pets, scratches and treats and find rifles and bullets instead. If you truly love animals in the wild, love them from a distance and give them a fighting chance of survival

We have tons of deer in our neighborhood.. I love watching them!! They aren’t afraid of humans or cars. But the minute I saw this guy pet all over this deer I just thought about all the tiny deer ticks he picked up !!!!
