Good for them! I’m gonna be very straight… I don’t think dogs belong in cages! So I was very happy to see that Twitch, the German Sheppard agrees with me and does something about it! You go Twitch! And you friend Sophie, too!

I can’t help but comment on your thoughts about not believing dogs should be in a cage. I completely agree that dogs should not be “caged” in a negative sense. But I work at a vet clinic and when you KENNEL a dog it can be a good thing. I kennel my dogs while I’m at work. I know they aren’t possibly getting into something they shouldn’t and then need surgery for a foreign body. It helps puppies learn to be house broken as they learn to hold their bladder because they don’t naturally want to go to the bathroom where they sleep. One of my dogs was nervous around thunderstorms, she actually went to her kennel as a “safe spot” door open, she would just lay there while my other would look at her like, what are you doing in there? we didn’t get a treat. I reward my dogs for going in the kennel when I need to leave the house. they run to the kennel to get rewarded. it can be taught to be a happy and safe spot.
At the vet clinic, several of us occasionally bring our dogs to work and have kennels under our desks. When I bring my dogs with me to work, they run to the kennel. they can’t wait for me to get it set up for them to jump in and wait patiently while I get them their treat. We all cover our kennels with a blanket as well so the dogs can’t see the commotion and people or other dogs walking by. it lessens any desire to get worked up because there are people or pets i can’t play with.
My parents kennel their deaf dog while they are gone because she has separation anxiety. She could actually do harm to herself trying to get to a window or out the door if she was lose in the house while they were gone then simply put in the kennel with a kong and peanut butter.
When done properly and not out of punishment a kennel for a dog is a good thing.

I have used a kennel for everyone of my dogs, All 7 of them. When you have hunting dogs you need a kennel for them it’s all part of training. My dogs are Perfect. Kenneling a dog is the bet way to train.

what concerns me about this is the lady put towel over the cage… and two at the 48 sec mark when the dog is exiting the kennel, there is some sort of rope or string that looks like it is tied like a noose that the dog hits with it’s tail, I hope I am wrong about that but that dog could easily hang itself if it is..
