Swans are very protective parents. The male swan, called the ‘cob’, can be very aggressive in order to protect his young.
Earlier this year, Simon of Wildlife Aid went out to rescue a cygnet that was stuck in a fence, near the River Thames. He had to face a very angry cob that wouldn’t let anybody near his poor baby. In the end, Simon and the cygnet were all OK.

I love how one of the other cygnets pecks at the rescused one at the end as if to say “how stupid are you to get stuck in the fence!”

A swan duckling IS a cygnet!
The man wisely used swan duckling in the title of the video, leaving little room for misunderstanding. The word cygnet has many meanings and could have caused confusion.
Good Grief!

Wonderful rescuer. Thank you for helping the baby despite the attack from the adult swan. I thought your discussion with him was so kind. Most people would be upset by him.

The writer used the correct term, cygnet. It was probably an editor that wrote the headline calling it a duckling.
