Kanzi the bonobo (chimpanzee) lives in America and has learnt how to build a fire, light it using matches and toast marshmallows on it. It shows just how like us some primates really are.

    I read a book about chimps in a sanctuary. There was a chimp that had a wound on it’s foot who they taught to put his foot through the cage bars to have it treated – daily for a few weeks. Some time later another chimp was transferred to the sanctuary. This one was terrified of people and wanted nothing to do with the caregivers – but he had a wound. The chimp that had been treated came to the bars an made the humans understand that he wanted the medicine and gauze. He tended to the wound the same way he had seen it done.
