Jared Axen of Valencia Hospital in California is definitely is a different and amazing nurse. Patients who heard him as he walked the halls belting out old love songs and Broadway hits started to request he sing to them. Soon, serenading the sick became part of his daily rounds, gaining him the moniker “The Singing Nurse.”
Please SHARE everybody should know this amazing person 🙂
I hope the next time I have to go to a hospital this youngman will be my nurse. Music and a wonderful voice actually cuts down on pain meds and less complaints. He’s doing a fantastic job!!!

It’s so nice to know that someone cares about the elderly, as much as to sing, to make them small.

What a lovely and selfless young man. I’m only 62 but do worry about the time I’ll spend my final years in nursing care (I am childless) and I hope I meet someone like him. God bless him and all the wonderful nursing staff we have in the USA.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that does this… I sing every day… Good Morning beautiful. .. Amazing Grace… or whatever comes to my mind to cheer my residents. .. or calm them. It feels amazing to watch them smile. Some of them will say… I hear the singing CNA and they just smile… No my voice is not anywhere as amazing as this man’s but… Sometimes I can get a good laugh out of them because the song that pops up just might be a bit out of tune. I love my job!

Kudos to this caring nurse. You deserve a medal and a raise in salary. It is true that people require less medication believing someone cares for them. Keep up the excellent job you are doing.

When my Mom was dying in the nursing home the chaplain and his family came sometimes twice a day to sing for her. She and our whole family were so soothed by his ministry through song. I can certainly see why this wonderful singing nurse comforts others too. Bless him and his music.
