The Spider Who Couldn’t Hide

I know spiders is a tough subject, some people love them but most of us, yes, I’m one of those, are very afraid of them. That’s why I wanted to present to you this video today, because, at least, for once, a spider made me crack up…. This is so funny!  Can somebody explain what this spider is doing? 🙂

Interesting. When I was growing up, I did an experience by putting a black widow in a jar with a scorpion, curious as to which would kill the other. The black widow quickly spun a web around the scorpion and you can guess the rest of the story.

Hi there, its a ‘Six eyed sand spider (Sicarius hahni) it lives in desert regions and is an opportunist hunter, so buries itself and waits for prey rather than going hunting. It’s a rather shy species and very rarely comes into contact with human beings which is quite handy as it’s bite is said to be highly dangerous; toxicology studies have demonstrated that the venom is particularly potent, with a powerful haemolytic (the breaking open of red blood cells and the release of haemoglobin into the surrounding fluid) and necrotic (accidental death of cells and living tissue) effect, causing blood vessel leakage and tissue destruction. Here is a clip of it doing it’s thing with material enough to do so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4Xxq5XbEe0 Hope that helps 😉
