Is That A Car, A Plane, Or Both?

This is the new flying car prototype AeroMobil 3.0. Yes, you read it right, a flying car. It is now being tested in real flight conditions since October 2014 and everything indicates it works perfectly. So pretty soon, no more traffic jams, well at least on the streets 😉  Would you like to own one?

Biggest Problem with a compromise is; it doesn’t make a very good car, nor a very good airplane.

so now I need a pilots license too?? Now instead of rear ending someone and stopping…you can rear end and start dropping!! Does it come with airbags and parachutes?

As amazing at it is, both engineering and technological, I would safely bet it’s doomed to fail as an alternative to driving. In the 1930s they predicted that by 1950, everyone would have a helicopter instead of an automobile. But, helicopters proved to be too expensive, let alone pricy to maintain even on the ground. Also, there wasn’t any safe way to land in a emergency. So the vehicle even today is the primary movement of the world. I would guess this will go the same route. It’s going to be too expensive for more than the 15% richest people in the world. Not only that, it takes so much just to constantly maintain it while on the ground. A helicopter takes thousands of hours of maintenance before ever leaving the ground (preventative maintenance). These just won’t catch on. (I’m hoping I’m wrong because this would be an amazing leap forward in technology)

Kudos to the innovation. This will have a limited market penetration, but I am sure that it was anticipated in the planning stages. James Bond has arrived in the 21st Century. I knew he was still alive and kicking.
